This communication is being distributed to members to follow the requirement of communicating to members of proposed changes 30 days prior to the next meeting date (April 6th, 2024). Also, note that proposed national bylaws changes, if passed, are approved by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Board of Directors on May 9. The rationale of proposed changes is to shift timelines to account for NAR legislative meetings in future years held on dates besides May and to shift timelines to policy versus bylaws.

Section 4.4 Nomination Candidates for election as Board of Directors shall be vetted by the Leadership Development Committee. The Leadership Development Committee shall prepare a list of two candidates for every at-large Board of Directors position available. The Leadership Development Committee shall prepare a list of candidates to present to the Board of Directors for review with a membership vote scheduled in the Spring May of each year. Candidates for election as outside Board of Directors shall be nominated by the Leadership Development Committee and approved by the Board of Directors. 

Section 4.5 Election and Term of Office At-large Board of Directors shall be elected by membership and shall serve a two (2) year term. The membership vote will be held annually in the Spring May with the votes to be cast electronically. The open positions for the at-large Board of Directors will be filled by the candidates receiving the most votes. All ties will be broken by lot. The Board of Directors shall elect one outside Board of Directors every other year to serve a two (2) year term. The elections are subject to review and approval as to regularity by the Board of Directors. The term shall begin on the first day of the calendar year following the meeting or vote at which the director was elected and end on the last day of the calendar year or until the position is filled. 

Section 5.2.4 The Immediate Past President shall serve as Chair of the Leadership Development Committee, following the timeline per policy.
